Who we are and what we do…

Participants in shawl ministryThe Shawl Ministry group usually meets on the first Saturday of each month from 10am to around noon, at the Parish House next to the church.

Occasionally we hold our meeting off-site, with carpooling available from the church.  One of our favorite “Field Trips” is the annual Rose City Yarn Crawl.

We are a non-denominational group and everyone is welcome to join us.  There are no fees or requirements, and with advance notice, we can provide supplies and beginner instructions for knitting and crocheting.  We are blessed with so many talented members, that we can usually resolve pattern or stich problems during our meetings!

Our main purpose is to make shawls or lap blankets for members and friends of our congregation who may be experiencing a particularly difficult situation, or perhaps welcoming a first baby.

We also participate in lots of other projects, including scarves for our graduating seniors, the Red Scarf Project for Foster Children, Halos of Hope chemo caps, and slippers for the homeless shelter.

If you would like to learn more about our Shawl Ministry group, you can look for Shawl Ministry information in the in UUCCWC weekly announcements  and/or in the monthly newsletter. Both of these are sent by email to congregants and placed in the Sunday bulletin. You may also wish to visit the calendar here on our church website.

that life was joy.

I awoke and saw

that life was service.

I served and understood

that service was joy.”
