This Grasshopper, I Mean

Rev. Carter Smith

Inspired by Mary Oliver’s “The Summer Day”, we learn from the particular grasshopper that is eating sugar from the poet’s hand, and are inspired to marvel at the particular beings around us.  This service is focused on the art of connecting with others, whether forging new relationships or deepening the ones already in our lives.  If we bring added intentionality and wonder to those we share our time with, might we learn to behold them in new ways and deepen our own sense of belonging?

Rev. Carter Smith is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist from North Carolina.  She currently serves as minister at Westside UU Congregation in Seattle, Washington, and splits her time between Seattle and her home in Portland.  Her calling in life is to build and support communities that empower people to be their fullest selves and live with love and justice at the center.

For those of you not yet ready for in person, we are grateful for all the work that has been done to make sure our services will continue to live stream over Zoom where you can continue to be active members of our Sunday services. Here is the link for the service:  https://uuccwc.org/zoom-worship

We look forward to seeing you!
