This year, the members of UUCCWC are voting on updates to our Bylaws. The updates were shared with the congregation on March 26th so that people would have a chance to review the changes and provide feedback until April 15th.
We have incorporated changes based on that feedback.
In a nutshell, the overall major changes are:
- Updating gendered language to better reflect and respect diversity of gender identity and the right of personal choice of pronouns and identity.
- Providing clearer instructions on how to proceed when unexpected vacancies occur for the Board and how to handle transitions and vacancies on all of our elected committees.
- Adding language that clearly explains the difference between a Called and a Contract Minister and the different hiring processes for each type.
Each member will vote to approve these changes as a whole.
Below you will find three different documents that can help you review the changes and prepare for the vote.
- Description of the Bylaws Changes – reasoning behind the changes
- Bylaws Difference – exact wording changes from old to new
- Bylaws Draft – a clean version of the new Bylaws
Physical copies of these documents can also be found on the gathering table in the sanctuary.
