Advent for UUs in These Times

Reverend Christine Riley, Music Director Raymond Elliott and the UUCCWC Choir

In the traditional Christian liturgical calendar, the season of Advent will soon begin.  For Christians, Advent is a time of waiting for the birth of Jesus on Christmas morning.  Many Unitarian Universalists, who may previously have followed the Christian Holy Days with devotion, have discarded Advent along with Lent, the Epiphany and all else believed to no longer hold meaning.

This morning we will consider a fresh perspective about Advent, and how liberal religious people can find inspiration and relevance in Advent.  Come and discover how in these times often filled with stress, uncertainty, and deep divisiveness in our nation, a more intellectually and spiritually-mature grounding about Advent can be a rich resource for us.
