Love is the spirit of our church, and service is our prayer . First Unitarian Portland members Rick and Maxine Lathrop, founders/directors of Global Service Corps, share stories about their 28 years’ experience in international and local service, and explore the many opportunities we all have to serve our worlds.
Rick and Maxine Lathrop founded Global Service Corps in 1993, and have been providing volunteer service-learning programs in seven developing countries since then. They have been members of the Portland First Unitarian Church since 2013 where Maxine serves as a Lay Minister and Intern Minister Committee member and Rick has served as a choir member, RE teacher and Peace Action Group member.
