Why Advent Matters for UUs

Reverend Christine Riley
Music Director Raymond Elliott and the UUCCWC Choir

Many Unitarian Universalists have heard of Advent, perhaps linking it to Christianity, but are deeply ill informed about Advent. Some of us have discarded it as yet another meaningless superstition or irrelevant and antiquated something about which intelligent liberal religious folks need not be concerned.

This morning we’ll take an unbiased look into Advent and together discover why Advent is relevant for Unitarian Universalists. Attaining a broader understanding of what Advent offers UUs, of all theological and spiritual perspectives, supports us in maturing in our personal beliefs and strengthens our confirmation of our UU Statement of Sources.
