Reverend Christine Riley and the Orenco Ramblers
Many of us did not grow up learning the stories of the Bible. We may think that doesn’t matter, but the predominate national historical and current societal/political/religious/and moral narrative remains Christian. Our knowing what others believe and why can be an avenue to mutual understanding. It can also be the basis for bridge-building between religions, family members and neighbors. Palm Sunday offers keen lessons about courage, dedication in the face of tyranny and fear, the hope of a better life, the yearning for freedom, the joy of community, and the pain of betrayal. A grasp of the significance of this prefatory Sunday can enrich our insight into Easter Sunday’s events and into human nature today.
